On the Passing of President Yar’Adua

2010 May 6
by Nasir El-Rufai

I mourn the loss of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. May his soul rest in peace and may Allah forgive his errors. This event is a moment of forgiveness, healing and humble reminder of our immortality.

There should be no settling of scores. I call on President Jonathan to be a father to all, forgive those who mistreated him while the illness lasted and honour Mrs. Yar’adua as well as serve Nigeria with the fear of God.

May Allah preserve our nation and grant all Nigerians the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen.

Our late president had Fear and Respect for Allah (God), even when his health was failing he has reference for Allah (God)… I pray God grants him eternal rest in his kingdom and forgive him of all wrong doing! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Your words are so deep and indicate rare intelligence and maturity. I follow your words on marble on the injury to the banking sector’s psyche, on the need for judicial reform etc and I find myself coming under your spell. More grease to your elbow. Perhaps you are the new sage after Awolowo.
