FT: Nigerian ‘reformer’ plans challenge to elite
The Financial Times has published a new interview with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai regarding his return to Nigeria.
“We have a short-sighted political elite that has put their own need for power and accumulation of wealth above the interests of the country,” Mr El-Rufai said in a telephone interview on Friday. “We need to be a rallying point to present a new leadership for Nigeria for the 21st century.” (…)
With splits emerging in the dominant People’s Ruling Democratic party, the race to control a country regarded by the US and Europe as an energy producer of strategic importance is wide open.
Mr El-Rufai, who is close to Mr Jonathan, said: “We are in the process of forming a political party or merging with an existing political party.” He added: “We are also in discussions to see if the PDP can be reformed.”

I`m commenting on behave of the entire members of Dr.Goodluck Jonathan Support Group for 2011 zamfara state chapter in support of your courage and determination in the crusade of the P.D.P reform. It`s a very good and wellcome development at this moment.
